Detects attempts to perform Local File Inclusion (LFI) via path traversal sequences (../) in HTTP URIs, specifically targeting sensitive files like /etc/passwd or windows/win.ini.
Detects high-volume, established TLS connections to common public DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) providers (Google, Cloudflare, OpenDNS). Persistent high-frequency connections to these resolvers can be indicative of DNS tunneling, where an adversary encapsulates command-and-control or data exfiltration traffic within encrypted DNS queries to bypass network monitoring.
Detects Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) attempts targeting Microsoft Exchange via the /autodiscover/ endpoint. The attack leverages a specifically crafted X-BEResource header containing an internal IP address, which is indicative of the CVE-2021-26855 vulnerability used in ProxyLogon exploitation.
Detects HTTP POST requests characteristic of QakBot command-and-control check-ins. The rule looks for an 'established' flow to an external network using a POST method, with a request body containing 'qbot' followed by a version string pattern, which is indicative of the malware reporting system info to its C2 server.
This rule detects SMB traffic indicative of remote service creation over the SVCCTL named pipe, a pattern characteristic of tools like PsExec used for lateral movement and remote code execution.
Detects anomalous ICMP traffic patterns, specifically ICMP Echo Request packets with unusually large payload sizes (dsize > 64) and specific byte signatures consistent with known ICMP tunneling tools such as icmpsh or ptunnel, which are used to establish covert C2 channels.
Detects suspicious WinRM SOAPAction headers indicating potential lateral movement or remote command execution (e.g., shell command, process creation, or WMI operations) over WinRM HTTP ports 5985 and 5986.
Detects anomalous ICMP Echo Request packets (Type 8) directed towards external networks that contain a payload size greater than 128 bytes. Such anomalies are often indicative of ICMP tunneling, which may be leveraged by adversaries for command and control (C2) communication or data exfiltration.
This rule detects a high frequency of incoming TCP synchronization (SYN) packets on port 3389 (RDP) from a single external source within a short timeframe. This behavior is indicative of a brute-force or credential-stuffing attack against Remote Desktop services.
Detects network traffic indicative of the EternalBlue (MS17-010) exploit attempt against SMBv1 services. The rule specifically looks for SMB packets with transaction command patterns associated with this exploit, which was commonly used by the WannaCry ransomware.
Detects anomalous ICMP Echo Request packets (type 8, code 0) that contain payloads exceeding 64 bytes. ICMP Echo requests with large, non-standard payloads are a classic indicator of ICMP tunneling, which can be used to bypass network firewalls and encapsulate non-ICMP traffic for command and control (C2) or data exfiltration. The rule includes a threshold to reduce noise by alerting only when multiple such packets are seen from the same source.
Detects outbound network traffic established by a client using the default self-signed TLS certificate generated by Metasploit for Meterpreter Reverse HTTPS sessions. The rule looks for the common default subject fields 'CN=metasploit' and 'O=msf' within the TLS handshake.
Detects incoming HTTP POST requests directed at PHP, ASPX, or JSP files that contain suspicious command execution patterns (such as cmd=, exec=, system(, or eval()). This behavior is highly indicative of an attacker interacting with a web shell to execute unauthorized commands on the server.
Detects anomalous SMB NTLM authentication traffic indicative of relay attacks, where an attacker intercepts an authentication request and relays it to another SMB service.
Detects outbound HTTP requests to a known phishing infrastructure panel associated with the Montana Empire malware campaign, specifically targeting the /mentalite.php endpoint on pttvm.com.
This rule monitors outbound HTTP responses to detect the presence of the Montana Empire phishing panel by analyzing specific branding artifacts, such as strings like 'ENTER THE EMPIRE', '256-bit Encrypted', and 'Brute-force Protected' located within the HTTP response body associated with the URI '/mentalite.php'.
Detects network traffic associated with known Cobalt Strike Beacon request URI patterns. This rule utilizes network signature inspection to flag outbound connections containing URI fragments commonly used by Cobalt Strike default profiles.
Detects network traffic associated with known Cobalt Strike Beacon request URI patterns. This rule utilizes network signature inspection to flag outbound connections containing URI fragments commonly used by Cobalt Strike default profiles.
Detects network activity initiated by the TukTuk malware to communicate with Arweave public gateways (arweave.net and g8way.io), which are utilized as dead-drop resolvers for C2 infrastructure resolution.
Detects HTTP PUT requests directed at Wasabi Cloud Storage domains that originate from an Rclone user agent. This pattern is commonly indicative of data exfiltration activities where an attacker uses the Rclone utility to synchronize or upload sensitive data to unauthorized cloud storage.
This rule detects HTTP POST requests targeting Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC) that contain Java exploitation patterns (Runtime.getRuntime or ProcessBuilder) associated with the exploitation of CVE-2026-20131. This activity is indicative of an attempt to achieve Remote Code Execution (RCE) on the FMC appliance, likely by an actor utilizing the Interlock Ransomware threat.
