Detects when an attacker modifies values of the Disk Cleanup Handler in the registry to achieve persistence.
The disk cleanup manager is part of the operating system. It displays the dialog box […]
The user has the option of enabling or disabling individual handlers by selecting or clearing their check box in the disk cleanup manager's UI.
Although Windows comes with a number of disk cleanup handlers, they aren't designed to handle files produced by other applications.
Instead, the disk cleanup manager is designed to be flexible and extensible by enabling any developer to implement and register their own disk cleanup handler.
Any developer can extend the available disk cleanup services by implementing and registering a disk cleanup handler.

This rule detects the use of the `netsh interface portproxy` command to enable port forwarding, specifically looking for `v4tov4` configurations. It also identifies the creation or modification of associated registry settings under `HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\PortProxy\v4tov4`, which are indicative of port proxying being configured on a Windows system.

The analytic detects a process writing the `dynwrapx.dll` file to disk and registering it in the registry. This activity is significant because DynamicWrapperX is an ActiveX component often used in scripts to call Windows API functions, and its presence in non-standard locations is highly suspicious. If confirmed malicious, this could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code, escalate privileges, or maintain persistence within the environment. Immediate investigation of parallel processes and registry modifications is recommended.

Detects when an attacker modifies values of the Disk Cleanup Handler in the registry to achieve persistence. The disk cleanup manager is part of the operating system and allows users to enable or disable individual handlers. It is extensible, allowing developers to implement and register their own disk cleanup handlers. This rule specifically looks for the creation of new registry keys under 'SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VolumeCaches\' which could indicate a malicious handler being registered for persistence, while filtering out known legitimate default entries.
