This rule detects the creation of new processes (Event ID 4688) where the command line contains keywords indicative of driver or kernel module installation or loading. It looks for combinations of terms like 'driver', 'kernel', 'sys' along with 'install' or 'load'. This activity can be a sign of rootkit installation or other malicious kernel-level modifications.

Detects StealC malware injecting into suspended chrome.exe or msedge.exe processes via APC injection to bypass Chromium App-Bound Encryption. The detection is correlated with the creation or modification of an IPC output file in C:\ProgramData\ with a specific naming convention (<HWID>.txt).

This rule detects processes that repeatedly attempt to allocate memory, which can be indicative of malicious activity such as injection, evasion, or resource exhaustion attacks. It specifically looks for Event ID 4688 (process creation) where the command line contains keywords related to memory allocation (allocate, reserve, memory, malloc) and excludes common legitimate processes like SQL Server, Java, and Python. A count of 3 or more such events within an hour for the same computer, filename, and user triggers the alert.

This rule detects the presence of a Base64 encoded MZ header within a command line. The MZ header is characteristic of Windows executable files. Its appearance in a command line, especially in a Base64 encoded format, often indicates an attempt to execute malicious code or a payload that has been obfuscated to evade detection. This technique is commonly used by attackers to deliver and execute malware.
