This rule identifies endpoints that have transferred a total of more than 50MB of data to a single external, non-private IP address. The detection filters out RFC1918 private subnets and local loopback traffic, aggregating byte counts and connection attempts per endpoint, computer, and destination. This is indicative of potential data staging or exfiltration activities.
Detects large outbound network transmissions occurring on a host shortly after the creation of staged or archive files. This behavior is indicative of an attacker consolidating sensitive data (such as credentials or intelligence) into an archive and subsequently exfiltrating it over a Command and Control (C2) or other established network channel.
Detects instances where known post-exploitation tools or techniques (AD Explorer snapshots, staging of screen captures in public directories, or credential stealer execution) are followed by successful outbound network connections from the same device within a 30-minute window. This behavior often correlates with the collection and subsequent exfiltration of sensitive information.
Detects the creation of a specifically named exfiltration file ('edgeLog.txt') followed by an outbound network connection over port 443 originating from the same process storyline. This pattern is indicative of a process staging stolen data to disk and subsequently exfiltrating it over an encrypted channel to an external destination.
Detects potential data exfiltration (CVE-2026-42824) where an attacker leverages an SSRF vulnerability in Bing's search-by-image functionality to relay sensitive M365 Copilot data. The rule identifies outbound network requests to the image search endpoint containing a suspicious 'imgurl' parameter pointing to non-Microsoft infrastructure, initiated by common web browser processes.
Detects an unusually large data transfer (greater than 5MB) from an internal MySQL server to an external network, which may indicate unauthorized database record exfiltration or data dumping.
This rule detects suspicious network connections originating from internal IP addresses to common service ports (DNS, SMB, RDP, WinRM) on remote, non-internal IP addresses. It flags instances where a single process on a device makes 10 or more such connections within an hour, which could indicate reconnaissance, lateral movement, or data exfiltration attempts.
Detects anomalous outbound network traffic from Firefox processes indicative of CVE-2025-15661 exploitation. The rule monitors for communication with a specific non-standard port (8765) associated with a SmartWindow PoC server, or requests containing suspicious URI query parameters ('u0', 'u1', 'u2', 'source=history') frequently used for exfiltrating private browsing tabs and history via the '/leak' endpoint.
Detects instances where Chrome or Microsoft Edge web browsers access local sensitive credential storage files (e.g., Login Data, Web Data, Cookies) from unexpected file system paths, combined with external network traffic from the same process instance. This behavior is indicative of potential malicious browser extension abuse, DLL sideloading, or unauthorized browser instance execution for credential exfiltration.
Detects Python processes spawned by development tools (VSCode, Cursor) or Node.js that are engaged in suspicious activities, specifically communicating with the Telegram Bot API or uploading large amounts of data, often accompanied by file staging (ZIP archive creation). This behavior is characteristic of the InvisibleFerret information stealer.
Detects outbound proxy traffic originating from identified AI and automation agent user-agents (e.g., ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, etc.) attempting to access sensitive URI paths, such as credential files, SSH keys, configuration files, or cloud-hosted secrets. This may indicate an attempt to exfiltrate sensitive data to or through AI platforms.
This rule identifies devices that send a large volume of data (over 100 MB) over HTTPS ports (443 or 8443) within a one-hour window. This activity could be indicative of data exfiltration, unauthorized large file transfers, or other suspicious network activity.
This rule detects an unusual spike in 'Export' or 'Download' operations within Azure Activity logs by a single caller. It triggers when a user performs 5 or more such operations within an hour, which could indicate data exfiltration attempts or suspicious data access patterns.
Detects the exploitation or configuration manipulation of the Firefox browser.smartwindow.enabled feature, which can be abused by an attacker to exfiltrate sensitive browser data such as history, tab URLs, and secret query-string parameters to a remote endpoint. The rule monitors for network connections containing known exfiltration path signatures, connections to hardcoded PoC server addresses, or the modification of configuration settings related to the SmartWindow feature.
Detects unauthorized or suspicious processes reading sensitive credential files (AWS, .env, etc.) and subsequently initiating a successful network connection to an external destination within a 5-minute window. This behavior is a common indicator of credential exfiltration.
Detects the use of the rclone tool with data transfer commands (copy, move, sync, copyto, moveto) originating from a GoAnywhere server process or common interactive shell processes (cmd.exe, powershell.exe). This activity is highly suspicious and could indicate data exfiltration.
Detects network connections initiated by Windows Nearby Sharing processes (quick_share.exe, nearby_sharing.exe, or NearbyShare.exe) to non-standard ports, potentially indicating unauthorized file transfers or exfiltration over unusual network channels.
Detects the use of the FTP STOR command to transfer files with sensitive extensions (.docx, .pdf, .xlsx, .zip, .7z) to external networks. This behavior is indicative of potential data exfiltration via an unencrypted alternative protocol.
Detects repeated use of the FTP 'STOR' command to transmit data to an external host within a short timeframe. The STOR command is used in the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to upload a file to the server. An unusual frequency of this command toward external destinations may indicate data exfiltration.
Detects evidence of the 'smart_window' campaign, which exploits Firefox's SmartWindow feature to exfiltrate private browsing URLs. The rule identifies suspicious outbound network requests to attacker-controlled endpoints containing specific query parameters, the creation of known PoC artifact files, and the spawning of unexpected child processes by the Firefox browser.
Detects anomalous Firefox behavior consistent with CVE-2026-20253 exploitation, including unauthorized modification of Smart Window browser preferences (e.g., enabling the feature or redirecting the API endpoint) and suspicious child process creation following potential URL exfiltration events.
