Detects instances where sensitive or organizational data is uploaded to public text storage repositories like Pastebin or GitHub Gists through Netskope, which may indicate data exfiltration.

This rule detects processes making three or more successful outbound network connections within an hour to known code or text sharing sites like Pastebin, GitHub, or Gist. This activity can be indicative of data exfiltration, command and control (C2) communication, or staging of malicious code.
This rule detects network connections initiated by common Windows script interpreters (PowerShell, WScript, CScript, MSHTA) to known public paste or text sharing services. Adversaries often use these sites to host malicious payloads, C2 configurations, or to exfiltrate data, bypassing traditional network blocks by using reputable services. The rule excludes processes signed by Microsoft to reduce noise.

Detects DNS lookups to Pastebin used for dead drop C2 configuration retrieval
This rule detects HTTP POST requests to pastebin.com's API for pasting content, specifically targeting the '/api/api_paste.php' endpoint. It triggers if the size of the data being uploaded is greater than 1000 bytes, indicating a potential data exfiltration attempt to a public text storage site.

This rule detects attempts to exfiltrate sensitive data by posting it to common text sharing services. It specifically looks for HTTP POST requests with a body size greater than 1000 bytes directed towards domains associated with services like paste.ee, hastebin, ghostbin, and privatebin.
This rule set detects various stages of the JFMBackdoor and Showboat malware, including DLL sideloading of FLTLIB.dll by fltMC.exe from non-standard directories, network connections to known C2 and staging infrastructure (namefuture.site or 23.27.201.160), command-line activity referencing a specific Pastebin URL used by Showboat for process-hiding code, and the creation of JFMBackdoor payload artifacts (flt.bin, scr.mui).

This rule detects outbound network connections to a predefined list of suspicious cloud storage and file-sharing services. These services are often used by adversaries for exfiltration of collected data, providing a covert channel due to their common use and potential for SSL/TLS encryption. The rule specifically looks for `RemoteUrl` containing any of the domains listed in `suspiciousexfildomains`.
This rule detects network connections to known pastebin and text storage sites initiated by processes that are not common web browsers. This could indicate data exfiltration, staging of malicious code, or command and control activity where sensitive information is uploaded or retrieved by non-standard applications.
Intent:
- Use MTP capability to look for insider threat potential risk indicators
- Indicators would then serve as the building block for insider threat risk modeling in subsequent tools
Definition of Insider Threat:
"The potential for an individual who has or had authorized access to an organization's assets to use their access, either maliciously or unintentionally, to act in a way that could negatively affect the organization."
This collection of queries describes the different indicators that could be used to model and look for patterns suggesting an increased risk of an individual becoming a potential insider threat.
Note: no single indicator should be used as a lone determinant of insider threat activity, but should be part of an overall program to understand the increased risk to your organization's critical assets. This in turn is used to feed an investigation by a formal insider threat program to look at the context associated with the whole person to understand the implication of a set of indicators.
