This rule detects potential Domain Generation Algorithm (DGA) activity by analyzing network connection logs. It identifies suspicious domains based on their structure (length, character set) and then filters them using a trigram analysis. Domains with non-repeating trigrams and rare trigrams (not found in a baseline of Alexa Top 1M domains) are flagged as DGA candidates. The rule then joins these candidates back to the original network logs to identify actual connections to these suspicious domains.

This rule detects network connections from devices to a predefined list of known malicious domains. It identifies attempts by internal systems to communicate with command and control servers, phishing sites, or other infrastructure associated with threat actors.
Detects potential DNS-based command and control (C2) or exfiltration behavior by monitoring for DGA-like domain patterns, high-volume DNS requests, and the use of command-line tools (nslookup.exe, dnscmd.exe) to perform TXT record lookups often associated with data exfiltration.

This rule detects repeated DNS queries to known Dynamic DNS (DDNS) providers within a 24-hour window, which may indicate an infected host beaconing to a command-and-control (C2) server utilizing dynamic infrastructure. Such rotation is commonly used by malware to maintain connectivity if primary infrastructure is blocked.
Detects anomalous, high-volume DNS query activity where a process attempts to resolve 20 or more unique domains within a 2-minute window. The query patterns match strings that are 8-20 characters long with common top-level domains, excluding known web browsers and standard network diagnostic utilities. This behavior is indicative of malware using Domain Generation Algorithms (DGA) for command and control or secondary communication channels.
This rule detects network connections to a predefined list of known Microstealer malicious domains. These domains are often associated with malware command and control (C2) infrastructure, phishing, or other malicious activities. Monitoring connections to such domains can help identify compromised systems or active malware infections.
Detects network connections resolving to specific domains or UUID-based API endpoints used by Lorem Ipsum's primary C2 cluster following the late-May ClickFix pivot. This rule identifies known command and control (C2) infrastructure by matching specific domain names and a UUID-based API endpoint pattern in network connection URLs.

Detects DNS resolution to attacker-controlled AWS S3 buckets masquerading as Outlook/OneDrive service pages used by UNC6692 for phishing delivery, SNOWBELT C2, and credential exfiltration. The rule specifically looks for DNS queries to S3 domains with patterns indicative of spoofed Outlook/OneDrive service pages or specific known malicious S3 bucket names.
This rule detects potential Command and Control (C2) communication activity by identifying instances of Domain Generation Algorithms (DGA). It monitors DNS query responses for patterns consisting of 8 to 16 lowercase alphabetic characters followed by common TLDs (com, net, org, ru, cc, su). An alert is triggered if 5 or more unique suspicious domains are queried by the same device within a one-hour window.

Identifies outbound C2 connections to domains generated by MLTBackdoor DGA.

Detects a device attempting to resolve a legitimate Microsoft/Banking domain, but receiving a non-standard/malicious IP indicative of router-level DNS hijacking.
Identifies outbound C2 connections to domains generated by MLTBackdoor DGA.
Identifies DNS queries sent to unauthorized external DNS resolvers (rogue IPs instead of corporate/ISP assigned servers).
Detects C2 fallback channel switching between backup domain names
