'Any Alerts that fired related to a given IpAddress during the range of +6h and -3d'
'This hunting query looks for queries that appear to be looking for secrets or passwords in tables.'
This query will find when a new credential is added to an application or service principal.
The Nobelium activity group was able to gain sufficient access to add credentials to existing applications with mail read permissions. They used that access to exfiltrate email.
See Customer Guidance on Recent Nation-State Cyber Attacks for more on the Nobelium campaign (formerly known as Solorigate).
Additional information on OAuth Credential Grants can be found in RFC 6749 Section 4.4 or Microsoft Entra ID audit activity reference.
For further information on AuditLogs please see Microsoft Entra ID audit activity reference.
This query was inspired by an Azure Sentinel detection.

'This hunting query looks for users who have multiple failed queries in a short space of time.'
Intent:
- Use MTP capability to look for insider threat potential risk indicators
- Indicators would then serve as the building block for insider threat risk modeling in subsequent tools
Definition of Insider Threat:
"The potential for an individual who has or had authorized access to an organization's assets to use their access, either maliciously or unintentionally, to act in a way that could negatively affect the organization."
This collection of queries describes the different indicators that could be used to model and look for patterns suggesting an increased risk of an individual becoming a potential insider threat.
Note: no single indicator should be used as a lone determinant of insider threat activity, but should be part of an overall program to understand the increased risk to your organization's critical assets. This in turn is used to feed an investigation by a formal insider threat program to look at the context associated with the whole person to understand the implication of a set of indicators.

In this query, we hunt for inbound emails having URLs from QR codes and send by non-prevalent senders
This query visualises total emails with Phish detections over time summarizing the data daily by Phish detection technologies/controls used for detecting unknown-unique phish
Detects usage of the "Import-Module" cmdlet to load the "Microsoft.ActiveDirectory.Management.dl" DLL. Which is often used by attackers to perform AD enumeration.
Detects when there is a login attempt from a country that has not seen a successful login in the previous 14 days.
Threat actors may attempt to authenticate with credentials from compromised accounts - monitoring attempts from anomalous locations may help identify these attempts.
Authentication attempts should be investigated to ensure the activity was legitimate and if there is other similar activity.

This query was originally published in the threat analytics report, ironSource PUA & unwanted apps impact millions.
IronSource provides software bundling tools for many popular legitimate apps, such as FileZilla. However, some of ironSource's bundling tools are considered PUA, because they exhibit potentially unwanted behavior. One component of these tools, detected by Microsoft as Prifou, silently transmits system information from the user. It also installs an outdated version of Chromium browser with various browser extensions, resets the user's home page, changes their search engine settings, and forces Chromium and itself to launch at startup.
The following query can be used to locate unique command-line strings used by ironSource bundlers to launch Prifou, as well as commands used by Prifou to install Chromium.

Detects ADDInternals Cmdlet execution. A tool for administering Azure AD and Office 365. Which can be abused by threat actors to attack Azure AD or Office 365.

'This detection uses Windows security events to look for users reading the local Device Identity Key (Machine Key).
This information can be correlated with other events for additional context and get to use-cases where a
machine key with a transport key together can be used to impersonate an Entra ID joined or registered machine.

Search for the files that are using a compromised certificate associated with the Nobelium campaign.
You can remove the comments to:
1. get the list of devices where there is at least one file signed with the certificate
2. get the list of files signed with the certificate
3. get the list of files signed with the certificate group by Devices

This query was originally published on Twitter, by @MsftSecIntel.
The query helps detect emails associated with a campaign that has used open redirector URLs. The campaign's URLs begin with the distinct pattern, hxxps://t. Attackers use URL redirection to manipulate users into visiting a malicious website or to evade detection.

Device Network Events Involving Low Count FQDNs.
This query reduces network events to only those with the RemoteURL column populated,.
Then parses the DNS name from the URL (if needed) and finds the least prevalent.
FQDNs. The result is then joined with DeviceNetworkEvents to highlight anomalous.
Network communication.

This query was originally published in the threat analytics report, Sysrv botnet evolution.
Sysrv is a Go-based botnet that targets both Windows and Linux servers, and steals resources to mine cryptocurrency.
The following query finds instances where the attacker commanded the Kinsing miner file to be downloaded on Linux devices.
