Detects unauthorized modifications to the .ssh/authorized_keys file. Such changes are often performed by adversaries to establish persistence by ensuring their own public keys allow them remote access to the host. The rule filters out known configuration management and system tools to reduce noise.
This rule detects potentially malicious behavior in package manager post-install scripts (npm, pip). It monitors for child processes like shells, network utilities (curl, wget), or command-line arguments indicative of credential harvesting (e.g., accessing .ssh, .aws/credentials, environment variables) initiated by package management processes.
Detects suspicious network activity or credential exfiltration attempts occurring during package manager installation processes (npm, pip, yarn). The rule monitors for lifecycle scripts (e.g., preinstall, postinstall) spawning network utilities to external destinations or accessing common CI/CD secrets like AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY or GITHUB_TOKEN.
Detects evidence of an argument-injection attack against MikroTik RouterOS (CVE-2026-86060), where the attacker provides the literal username '-2' during the login process. This action allows the attacker to bypass standard credential validation by exploiting a forged privilege mask. This is typically observed in conjunction with unauthorized access attempts following CVE-2026-67279.
Detects a suspicious sequence of events where a known web server process (e.g., IIS, Nginx, Apache) spawns a command shell process, followed shortly by the creation of a file with a web shell-like extension (.aspx, .jsp, .php) in the same environment. This pattern is indicative of an adversary exploiting a public-facing application to upload and potentially access a web shell.
Detects the use of package installation commands (pip, npm, npx) where the package name resembles popular AI/ML libraries (tensorflow, torch, openai, langchain) but is not an exact match for known legitimate versions. This is a common indicator of a typosquatting supply chain attack, where attackers attempt to trick users into installing malicious packages with similar names to trusted software.
Detects Python or Pip processes that download an image file from the network and subsequently write a native extension module (.pyd or .so) to the disk within a 10-minute window. This behavior is consistent with the extraction of a hidden malicious payload embedded within an image file using steganography.
This rule detects POST requests to the '/v2/repository/index' endpoint of a Triton Inference Server. This endpoint is part of the Model Repository control API and is typically used to manage or inspect models. Unauthorized access to this API can be indicative of reconnaissance or exploitation attempts against the inference server.
This rule detects unauthorized and unauthenticated attempts to access the Ray Dashboard API '/api/jobs' endpoint. An absence of an Authorization header in these requests indicates potential reconnaissance or exploitation attempts against an exposed Ray cluster management interface.
Detects incoming HTTP GET requests to common Jupyter Notebook endpoints ('/tree' or '/api/kernels') that do not include a token in the URI. This behavior is indicative of an adversary attempting to interact with or explore an insecurely configured Jupyter Notebook server that lacks authentication.
Detects a high frequency of SSH connection attempts originating from a single source address within a short timeframe, specifically targeting the initial SSH handshake string. This is indicative of automated brute force or credential stuffing activity against SSH services.
Detects unauthenticated POST requests directed at the '/v1/completions' endpoint of a vLLM server. This behavior is indicative of potential unauthorized access or exploitation attempts against an exposed LLM inference API that lacks authentication controls.
Detects unauthenticated HTTP POST requests targeting the '/v1/graphql' endpoint of a Weaviate vector database. This pattern is indicative of reconnaissance or exploitation attempts against exposed Weaviate API instances.
Detects a non-root user invoking 'busctl call' against the system bus - the core of the
ptrace_may_dream / AccountsService abuse path (CVE-2026-46333 class). Enriched by decoding
the D-Bus call target (service/member), a CallCategory verdict (AccountsService account
modification, systemd run-as-root, polkit, PackageKit, generic mutating call), a burst
counter that surfaces the pidfd_getfd race loop, RiskScore / TriagePriority and DeviceInfo
context. NOTE: the FD-theft primitive itself is invisible to MDE; this detects the busctl
trigger and account-modification aftermath. Detection logic adapted from Elastic Security Labs.

Detects creation or modification of files under /etc/sudoers or /etc/sudoers.d/ by a
process outside sanctioned package- and configuration-management tooling. Writing a
passwordless sudo rule is the finishing move in CIFSwitch (CVE-2026-46243) and OVSwrap
(CVE-2026-64531) and a common root-persistence step generally. Enriched with writer
context (non-root, writable-path, shell one-liner, NOPASSWD) and a heuristic RiskScore /
TriagePriority, plus DeviceInfo host context (MachineGroup, OS, logged-on users).

Detects browser extension updates that request a combination of high-risk permissions capable of account takeover (e.g., cookies, webRequest, identity) for extensions previously classified as low-risk. This pattern often indicates a supply chain compromise where a benign extension is acquired and subsequently updated with malicious capabilities.

This rule detects attempts to exploit CVE-2026-5027 in Langflow by identifying path traversal sequences (such as '../', '..\', or absolute paths) within the query parameters of requests directed to the '/api/v2/files' endpoint.
Detects the installation or execution of known MALFEX malicious packages via npm or Node.js, which are used as entry points for polyglot or disguised payload delivery.
