Detects a potential S3 bucket hijacking attempt where an S3 bucket is deleted and shortly after, an AWS Firehose delivery stream is created or updated to target a bucket with the same name, but under a different AWS account. This could indicate an adversary attempting to exfiltrate data by redirecting data intended for the original bucket to their own controlled bucket.
This rule detects suspicious activities related to AWS S3 buckets that could indicate a bucket hijacking attempt or unauthorized replication to an external account. Specifically, it looks for two scenarios: 1) an S3 bucket being deleted and then recreated by a different AWS account within a one-hour window, suggesting a namespace hijacking, or 2) an S3 bucket being deleted while a PutBucketReplication event references an external AWS account, indicating an attempt to exfiltrate data or maintain access through replication.
Detects a sequence of events where an Amazon S3 bucket is deleted, followed within one hour by the creation of an Amazon Data Firehose delivery stream or an update to a destination using the same bucket name. This pattern indicates a potential bucket name hijacking attempt, where an attacker recreates the deleted bucket to intercept or redirect data streams processed by Firehose.
Detects a potential storage container hijacking attack in Azure, where a container is deleted in one subscription and subsequently recreated with the same name in a different subscription within the same tenant. This sequence can be used to redirect data streams or intercept access to containerized resources.
Slack Canvas External Access & Tampering
Cortex XDR
Detects external users accessing internal Slack canvases and suspicious canvas deletion or access level changes. Canvases can contain sensitive runbooks, credentials, and organizational data, making these actions critical to monitor for potential data exfiltration or unauthorized access.
Detects the execution of cloud CLI tools (aws, az, gsutil) using commands designed for bulk or recursive deletion of data from cloud object storage (S3, Azure Blob, GCS). This activity is commonly associated with destructive attacks, ransomware, or unauthorized data removal.

Detects the modification of Azure Storage account management policies where the 'daysAfterModificationGreaterThan' condition is set to 7 days or less, specifically including a 'delete' action. This could indicate an attempt by an adversary to shorten the lifecycle of data for rapid, automated, and potentially malicious data destruction within Azure Blob Storage.
Detects a sequence of events where an actor deletes a Google Cloud Storage bucket and then immediately recreates it, a pattern consistent with bucket hijacking intended to manipulate resource access or bypass security controls on data streams.
Detects the creation or modification of Azure Storage Account management policies that include rules configured to delete blobs, snapshots, or versions in less than 30 days. This behavior may indicate an attempt at data destruction or unauthorized cleanup of cloud storage objects.
Slack Canvas External Access & Tampering
Cortex XDR
Detects external users accessing internal Slack canvases and suspicious canvas deletion or access level changes. Canvases can contain sensitive runbooks, credentials, and organizational data, making these actions critical to monitor for potential data exfiltration or unauthorized access.
Detects modification of Azure Storage Account network access rules, specifically when the 'networkAcls' property is changed. This could indicate an attempt to enable public access from specific IP addresses, potentially exposing the storage account to unauthorized access.

This rule detects when a single process account initiates a high volume (10 or more) of file move operations to folders associated with cloud storage services (e.g., 'cloud', 'dropbox', 'drive') within a one-hour window. This behavior could indicate data exfiltration or staging for exfiltration.
This rule detects when sharing inheritance settings are modified in SharePoint. This could indicate an attempt to broaden access to sensitive information, a misconfiguration, or an attacker attempting to maintain access or exfiltrate data.
This rule detects when a single process account initiates a high volume (10 or more) of file move operations to folders associated with cloud storage services (e.g., 'cloud', 'dropbox', 'drive') within a one-hour window. This behavior could indicate data exfiltration or staging for exfiltration.
This rule detects the creation of an Azure Blob Lifecycle Management rule that is configured for deletion. It specifically looks for HTTP PUT requests to blob.core.windows.net with 'managementPolicies' in the URI, indicating an attempt to define or modify lifecycle policies for Azure Blob Storage, potentially for data deletion.
Detects modification of cloud compute infrastructure to evade detection or remove evidence
This rule detects when sharing inheritance settings are modified in SharePoint. This could indicate an attempt to broaden access to sensitive information, a misconfiguration, or an attacker attempting to maintain access or exfiltrate data.
This rule detects the upload of virtual machine disk images (VMDK, OVA, OVF, QCOW2, VHD) to cloud storage via HTTP PUT requests. The rule specifically looks for HTTP PUT methods, URIs ending with common VM image file extensions, and a minimum file size of 1MB, indicating a substantial file transfer. This activity could signify an attacker attempting to upload a backdoored or malicious VM image for persistence or to establish a foothold in a cloud environment.
This rule detects attempts to set or modify an S3 bucket lifecycle policy for auto-deletion. It specifically looks for HTTP PUT requests to 's3.amazonaws.com' with a URI containing '?lifecycle'. This activity could indicate an attacker attempting to delete data after exfiltration or to destroy evidence.
