This rule detects the execution of common tools and commands used to perform Kerberoasting, a technique where attackers request Kerberos service tickets for user accounts with Service Principal Names (SPNs) in order to perform offline brute-force attacks to recover plaintext credentials. The rule specifically monitors process creation events for known offensive security tools like Rubeus, as well as specific command-line arguments for 'setspn.exe' and various scripts that can be used to identify potential Kerberoasting targets.
Detects the execution of Rubeus, a common security tool used for Kerberos-based attacks including Golden/Silver Ticket forgery, AS-REP roasting, Kerberoasting, and ticket harvesting. The rule monitors command-line indicators associated with known Rubeus arguments.
The following analytic detects an uncommon process requesting full access rights to winlogon.exe, which may indicate Rubeus exporting Kerberos tickets from memory.
It leverages Sysmon EventCode 10 and checks for full-access rights, specifically the value 0x1f3fff.
It leverages Sysmon EventCode 10 and checks for full-access rights, specifically the value 0x1f3fff.
Detects the execution of the Rubeus toolset with command-line arguments indicative of Kerberos ticket abuse, including Kerberoasting, AS-REP Roasting, and Pass-the-Ticket (PTT) techniques. These methods are commonly used by adversaries for credential harvesting and facilitating lateral movement within an Active Directory environment.
Detects the execution of the Rubeus tool, a C# toolkit used for interacting with the Kerberos protocol. The rule specifically monitors command-line arguments and process names associated with common Kerberos exploitation tasks such as Kerberoasting, Golden/Silver Ticket forging, and ticket manipulation.
Detects the execution of the Rubeus tool, a widely used offensive security tool for Kerberos manipulation, including ticket requests, pass-the-ticket, and credential dumping.
This rule detects the execution of the Rubeus tool, a known C# toolkit for raw Kerberos interaction. The rule specifically alerts on command-line arguments associated with common Kerberos attacks such as Kerberoasting, requesting TGT/TGS tickets, and performing Pass-the-Ticket operations.
Detects the execution of the Rubeus.exe utility with command-line arguments indicative of Kerberos-related credential harvesting and abuse, such as Kerberoasting, AS-REP Roasting, and Pass-the-Ticket attacks.
Detects the use of the Rubeus tool for Kerberos-based credential attacks, specifically Kerberoasting, TGT delegation abuse, and Pass the Ticket, by monitoring process command line arguments for characteristic flags associated with the Rubeus binary.
Detects the execution of the Rubeus.exe utility with command-line arguments indicative of Kerberos-related credential harvesting and abuse, such as Kerberoasting, AS-REP Roasting, and Pass-the-Ticket attacks.
Detects the execution of the Rubeus.exe utility with command-line arguments indicative of Kerberos-related credential harvesting and abuse, such as Kerberoasting, AS-REP Roasting, and Pass-the-Ticket attacks.
Detects the execution of known Kerberoasting tools such as Rubeus and Impacket (GetST, GetTGT, asktgs) or command-line arguments indicative of Kerberoasting, specifically targeting RC4/ETYPE-23 ticket requests that are often used to crack service account passwords offline.
This rule detects potential AS-REP Roasting activities by monitoring process creations for the Rubeus toolset (using the asreproast command) and PowerShell scripts executing commands related to AS-REP Roasting (Get-ASREPHash or asreproast). This technique is used by adversaries to extract Kerberos TGTs for accounts with Kerberos pre-authentication disabled, allowing for offline password cracking.
Detects the execution of known Kerberoasting tools or commands, specifically identifying the use of Rubeus, GetUserSPNs, or processes containing strings related to Kerberoasting, which indicates attempts to extract Kerberos service tickets for offline brute-force attacks.
Detects the execution of known Kerberoasting tools or commands that indicate an attempt to request Kerberos service tickets for offline cracking. This activity is a core component of the Kerberoasting attack technique.
This rule detects the execution of the Rubeus tool or the usage of common command-line arguments associated with Kerberoasting activities (e.g., GetUserSPNs, Request-SPNTicket). Kerberoasting is a technique used to extract service account password hashes from Active Directory by requesting service tickets for accounts with Service Principal Names (SPNs). These hashes can then be cracked offline to obtain cleartext credentials.
Detects the execution of Rubeus or Mimikatz with command-line arguments indicative of Kerberos attacks such as Pass the Ticket (PtT) or Golden Ticket generation. This rule specifically looks for keywords like 'rubeus ptt', 'kerberos::ptt', 'kerberos::golden', and 'mimikatz kerberos' in process command lines.
Detects the execution of known Kerberoasting tools or commands that indicate an attempt to request Kerberos service tickets for offline cracking. This activity is a core component of the Kerberoasting attack technique.
