This rule detects suspicious activity where a user account executes multiple disparate reconnaissance or discovery commands within a 30-minute window. It monitors for the execution of common Windows administration and discovery tools like dsquery, nltest, net, nslookup, and tasklist using specific, non-standard arguments indicative of network or domain reconnaissance.
Detects multiple reconnaissance commands executed by PowerShell processes running as the SYSTEM account. This behavior is indicative of an attacker attempting to enumerate domain trusts, group memberships, or user sessions on a host to facilitate lateral movement or privilege escalation.
Detects processes attempting to enumerate Active Directory objects (users, groups, trusts) while simultaneously establishing a network connection to Active Directory Web Services (ADWS) on port 9389. This behavior is characteristic of tools like SharpADWS, which performs AD enumeration via the ADWS protocol rather than traditional LDAP, potentially bypassing legacy detection mechanisms.
Detects high-volume, rapid enumeration of core Microsoft Graph directory endpoints (users, groups, applications, and servicePrincipals) by a single identity or session. This behavior is indicative of reconnaissance tools such as AADInternals, ROADtools, or TokenTactic being used to map out a cloud environment's directory structure.
Detects a rapid burst of read-only IAM and STS API enumeration calls originating from a single source IP address within a one-minute window. This behavior is indicative of automated reconnaissance tools (e.g., enumerate-iam, Pacu) used in the early stages of a cloud attack to identify permissions and potential targets for privilege escalation.
Detects an accelerated sequence of attack phases—specifically recon, privilege escalation, lateral movement, and persistence—occurring on a single device within a short timeframe (15 minutes). This behavioral pattern indicates potential automated or script-orchestrated intrusion activity.

This rule detects potentially suspicious reconnaissance activity against the Microsoft Graph API. It monitors for high volumes of diverse requests originating from a single account within a 30-minute window, specifically targeting multiple distinct object types such as users, groups, sites, and applications. Such behavior is indicative of an adversary attempting to enumerate or map the target cloud environment.

Detects the execution of BloodHound/SharpHound reconnaissance tools and the presence of their generated output files (ZIP or JSON format) on a host. This rule monitors both the process creation events associated with the tool's execution and file creation events indicative of data staging or collection output.

Detects the execution of BloodHound related processes combined with a high volume of LDAP queries (Event ID 1644), which is indicative of Active Directory environment reconnaissance.

Detects the execution of common system administration tools (cmd, powershell, net, nltest, etc.) used to perform environment discovery or credential enumeration, specifically when targeting Domain Controllers, Active Directory objects, database credentials, or sensitive configuration files.
