Detects network activity associated with the ROOTBOY actor, specifically identifying internal devices communicating with known malicious command and control (C2) IP addresses and subsequently attempting to access specific suspicious domains or URLs linked to the actor's infrastructure.
This rule monitors registry modifications for keys or values related to common virtualization platforms (VirtualBox, VMware, QEMU, Xen, Hyper-V). Such registry queries or modifications are often indicative of malware performing sandbox evasion to determine if the execution environment is a virtual machine or a sandbox used for analysis, allowing the malware to terminate or alter its behavior to avoid detection.
Detects successful network connections from hosts to specific remote IP ranges (associated with CN infrastructure) on known ports commonly used by ValleyRAT and Gh0st RAT.
Detects successful outbound network connections to common botnet-associated remote ports (6667, 6697, 8006, 27374, 27375). The rule aggregates these connections by device to identify endpoints communicating with multiple distinct remote IP addresses, a behavior often indicative of botnet participation or command and control activity.
Detects the execution of VBScript (wscript.exe or cscript.exe) with unusually long command lines containing common obfuscation patterns such as character replacement or string splitting. This pattern is indicative of attempts to hide malicious code from static analysis.
Detects anomalous device network activity involving 5G-specific protocol ports (e.g., GTP-U, SIP). The rule aggregates unique port usage per device over 1-hour intervals to identify potential network reconnaissance, scanning, or unauthorized control plane communication.
Detects Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) spawning command-line interpreters (PowerShell, CMD, WScript). This behavior is characteristic of malicious macros or exploitation attempts where Office applications execute shell commands to facilitate second-stage payload delivery or system compromise.
Detects the loading of DLLs with suspicious names ('hook.dll', 'inject.dll', 'logger.dll', 'loader.dll') from common user-writable directories such as 'Temp', 'AppData', or 'Downloads'. These patterns are frequently associated with malware loaders, persistence mechanisms, or unauthorized code injection attempts.
This rule detects network connections from internal devices to identified APT Command and Control (C2) IP address ranges over common ports (8080, 443, 21, 22, 23, 25, 445). This traffic pattern is indicative of unauthorized external communication commonly associated with malware or adversary activity.
Detects the execution of executable files with suspicious command line arguments related to AI or Machine Learning frameworks (e.g., tensorflow, pytorch, neural) where the file size is relatively small (between 50KB and 500KB), which may indicate potentially malicious payloads masquerading as legitimate AI utilities.
