Detects process creations (EventID 4688) where the command line contains keywords indicative of loading or installing kernel modules or drivers. This activity can be associated with privilege escalation or persistence techniques used by adversaries.
This rule detects a high volume of account changes (creation or modification) within a one-hour window by a single user. Specifically, it looks for 10 or more instances of EventID 4720 (A user account was created) or EventID 4722 (A user account was enabled) originating from the same SubjectUserName within an hour.
This rule detects when a single user removes permissions from 5 or more mailboxes within a one-hour window in an Exchange environment. This activity could indicate an attempt to cover tracks or disrupt access to mailboxes by an attacker.
This rule detects when a single process account creates 5 or more files containing 'database', 'db', or '.sql' in their filenames within a one-hour window. This could indicate an attempt to stage, exfiltrate, or manipulate database files.
This rule detects an unusually high volume (10 or more within an hour) of file creations with extensions commonly associated with backup files (.backup, .bak, .old). This activity could indicate an adversary attempting to inhibit system recovery by creating numerous backup files, potentially to overwrite legitimate backups or to stage data for exfiltration or destruction.
This rule detects an unusually high volume of SharePoint sharing invitation creations or sharing setting modifications by a single user within an hour. This could indicate an attacker attempting to exfiltrate data or broadly share sensitive information.
Detects when a single account initiates a high volume of Office file (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) copy or move operations within a one-hour window. This could indicate data exfiltration or staging activities.
Detects an unusual volume of 'Logging' or 'Monitor' operations within Azure Activity logs from a single caller within an hour. This could indicate an adversary attempting to enumerate logging configurations, monitor activities, or potentially tamper with logging settings as a precursor to other malicious activities or an attempt to cover tracks.
This rule detects suspicious activity indicative of post-quantum ransomware, combining two main indicators: the execution of processes with command-line arguments related to post-quantum cryptographic algorithms (Kyber, ML-KEM, NTRU, Dilithium, Falcon, SPHINCS) and the creation of common ransomware notes (README.txt, DECRYPT.txt, RESTORE.txt, PAYMENT.txt, RANSOM.txt). The cryptographic operation detection specifically looks for high or system integrity processes and excludes common legitimate cryptographic tools. The rule correlates multiple cryptographic operations within a short timeframe and the creation of ransom notes to identify potential ransomware deployment.
This rule detects network connections initiated by the 'teams.exe' process to public IP addresses. It specifically looks for outbound connections from the Microsoft Teams application to external, non-private IP ranges. This could be used to monitor unusual external communication patterns from Teams, although the specific intent without further context is unclear.
