The following analytic detects the creation of files associated with the NirSoft tool bundles on Windows endpoints.
NirSoft is a well-known provider of free, portable utilities that can be used for various system and network tasks. However, threat actors often leverage these tools for malicious purposes, such as credential harvesting, network reconnaissance, and data exfiltration.
The detection focuses on the creation of specific NirSoft tool bundle files, which may indicate that an attacker is preparing to use these utilities on a compromised system.
Security teams should investigate any instances of these files being created, especially if they are found in unexpected locations or on systems that should not be using such tools.

The following analytic detects the disabling of security jobs in CircleCI pipelines. It leverages CircleCI log data, renaming and extracting fields such as job names, workflow IDs, user information, commit messages, URLs, and branches. The detection identifies mandatory jobs for each workflow and checks if they were executed. This activity is significant because disabling security jobs can allow malicious code to bypass security checks, leading to potential data breaches, system downtime, and reputational damage. If confirmed malicious, this could result in unauthorized code execution and compromised pipeline integrity.

Detects an AWS identity making 10 or more successful EC2 Instance ConnectSendSSHPublicKey API calls within the configured search interval.
EC2 Instance Connect temporarily makes an SSH public key available to an operating-system user on an EC2 instance.
A burst of these calls may indicate automated attempts to establish access or move laterally using compromised AWS credentials.

The following analytic detects a high volume of Amazon CloudWatch Logs read operations performed by the same AWS principal and account within a
five-minute period.
It identifies more than 500 DescribeLogGroups, DescribeLogStreams, DownloadLogEvents, FilterLogEvents, GetLogEvents, or GetQueryResults API calls.
This activity may indicate automated discovery or collection of operational, application, or security telemetry from CloudWatch Logs.

The following analytic detects the execution of the macOS osascript utility with AppleScript commands that display a dialog or alert containing potentially deceptive, credential-related, or security-themed content.
Adversaries may abuse osascript to present fake system messages or credential prompts and trick users into disclosing sensitive information.
This detection is based on command-line content and should be reviewed with the parent process, executing user, script content, and surrounding endpoint activity.

Detects repeated Ollama application error events as a possible availability issue. Ollama application logs do not reliably record process termination, so this search cannot confirm a service crash without operating system or service manager telemetry.

The following analytic identifies ICMP traffic to external IP addresses with total bytes (sum of bytes in and bytes out) greater than 1,000 bytes.
It leverages the Network_Traffic data model to detect large ICMP packet that aren't blocked and are directed toward external networks. We use All_Traffic.bytes in the detection to capture variations in inbound versus outbound traffic sizes, as significant discrepancies or unusually large ICMP exchanges can indicate information smuggling, covert communication, or command-and-control (C2) activities.
If validated as malicious, this could signal ICMP tunneling, unauthorized data transfer, or compromised endpoints requiring immediate investigation.

The following analytic detects the wermgr.exe process creating an alternate stream in the temp directory. It leverages Sysmon EventID 15 to identify these actions.
This activity is significant because wermgr.exe is typically associated with error reporting, not file creation. Such activity is significant as it may indicate RoguePlanet malware, which creates an alternate stream in the temp directory to execute malicious code.
If confirmed malicious, this could lead to further malware infections, data exfiltration, or system compromise.

The following analytic detects when a unprivileged user changes an Admin accounts password. This is a common artifact of successful exploitation of the BlueHammer Windows Defender privilege escalation. The attacker's process momentarily changes the passwords of high-value local accounts including the built-in Administrator to spawn an authenticated shell session, then immediately reverts the passwords to avoid detection. This uses EventID 4723 to log this activity.

The following analytic detects when a known remote access software is added to common persistence locations on a device within the environment. Adversaries use these utilities to retain remote access capabilities to the environment. Utilities in the lookup include AnyDesk, GoToMyPC, LogMeIn, TeamViewer and much more. Review the lookup for the entire list and add any others.
