This rule detects either the execution of a specific SSH daemon binary known to be trojanized or the creation/modification of files within the /var/lib/sshd/ directory, which is a common indicator of backdoor persistence or credential theft targeting SSH sessions.
Detects modifications to the 'crond' daemon binary followed closely (within 5 minutes) by a restart or start command via common system management utilities. This behavior is highly indicative of potential persistence mechanisms where an adversary replaces a system binary with a malicious version.
This rule detects potential exploitation or unauthorized interaction with an HAProxy service. It correlates process execution on Linux systems involving the HAProxy PID file with subsequent network traffic containing the suspicious string 'writeservice_info' within a one-hour window.
Detects network connections from common Linux system binaries (agetty, atd, polkitd, crond) to identified suspicious external domains. These binaries typically do not communicate with external internet services, suggesting potential process masquerading or compromise.
Detects the creation or modification of files within the /tmp directory that follow a specific naming convention (t[number]_w.pipe) by an HAProxy process. This pattern is often associated with inter-process communication or potential post-exploitation activity where HAProxy is leveraged to handle named pipes for malicious command execution or data redirection.
Detects the RejectDirectSend bypass (null SMTP envelope sender + internal-domain spoof). Tightened to require Microsoft's composite auth verdict OR all of SPF/DKIM/DMARC failing (vs. any one), excludes known-approved Direct Send relay IPs, and excludes likely-legitimate bulk/newsletter traffic via BulkComplaintLevel.
Detects Direct Send spearphishing impersonating internal roles (IT/Finance/Procurement) with business-themed lures targeting leadership/finance titles. Rewritten: removed a non-functional sender/recipient substring check and a broken EmailPostDeliveryEvents join that made the rule rarely fire; anchored detection to the actual Direct Send signature (null envelope + domain match) and a direct IdentityInfo join; standardized auth-failure parsing to match the other rules in this set.

Detects suspicious execution of PowerShell or Mshta spawned from Explorer.exe. It looks for specific malicious indicators including references to known malicious domains, PowerShell encoding flags, hidden window arguments, or Mshta HTTP requests, which are common patterns for fileless malware or dropper execution.
Detects processes that access sensitive browser credential or cookie files (e.g., Login Data, Cookies) followed by network activity within a 10-minute window, which is a common behavior pattern of information-stealing malware such as Amatera or ACR Stealer.
