Detects the execution of base64 encoded PowerShell commands used by CRPx0 to stage a DLL payload, specifically saving it as 'WindowsUpdate.log' followed by the execution of that payload using rundll32.exe.
Detects the rapid termination of multiple critical processes (security, database, backup, and office applications) consistent with the kill list behavior exhibited by DragonForce ransomware. The rule monitors for a pattern of three or more unique processes from a defined list being terminated on the same host within a 5-minute window, a common precursor to file encryption.
Detects the use of vulnerable kernel drivers, specifically TrueSight.sys and rentdrv2.sys, as part of a Bring Your Own Vulnerable Driver (BYOVD) technique. This activity, associated with DragonForce ransomware, involves registering or accessing these drivers and sending specific IOCTL codes (0x22E044 or 0x22E010) to terminate security software processes.
Detects outbound network traffic attempting to access lookalike subdomains mimicking Okta or Microsoft 365 identity provider login pages. This behavior is associated with adversary-in-the-middle (AiTM) phishing campaigns, such as those attributed to UNC6671, where attackers use spoofed infrastructure to capture user credentials and session tokens.
Detects processes attempting to read the ntdll.dll file directly from the disk, a technique commonly associated with EDR bypass attempts where adversaries map a fresh copy of the library to overwrite hooked syscall functions (e.g., NtAllocateVirtualMemory/NtWriteVirtualMemory) to evade detection. The rule excludes common, legitimate system processes that may legitimately access this file during startup or normal operation.
This rule monitors for suspicious OAuth Device Code flow authentication attempts in Azure AD sign-in logs. It detects activity involving the device code protocol combined with specific error flags or indicators of potentially compromised or non-compliant devices (such as missing device IDs, non-compliant status, or empty trust types), which are indicative of Adversary-in-the-Middle (AiTM) phishing or token interception attacks.
Detects high-volume or multi-mailbox activity in Exchange Online, indicative of automated mailbox collection or unauthorized bulk data access via Graph or REST APIs. The rule monitors for a threshold of operations across multiple mailboxes or high event counts originating from specific API clients.
Detects signs of Adversary-in-the-Middle (AiTM) phishing attacks targeting cloud authentication. The rule monitors for access to suspicious domain patterns often used in AiTM phishing kits, specific MFA interruption errors (50074/50140) characteristic of proxy-based flows, and rapid successful logins from different IP addresses within a 15-minute window, suggesting session token theft and replay.
Detects potential lateral phishing attempts within Microsoft Teams by identifying a single user account sending messages containing common credential-harvesting lures (e.g., 'passkey', 'SSO', 'MFA', 'security update') to multiple internal recipients in a short timeframe.
