This rule detects the creation or modification of mailbox rules (forwarding, redirection, or deletion) that occurs within two hours of a sign-in event flagged as high-risk, specifically those indicative of AiTM or token-replay attacks. It further filters for rules involving sensitive keywords, suggesting an attempt to intercept or hide specific categories of emails post-compromise.
This rule detects potential brute force or account compromise attempts by identifying user accounts that have successfully authenticated or initiated authentication events from two or more distinct IP addresses within the observed time window. It monitors Windows Event IDs 4624 (Successful Logon), 4648 (Logon attempted using explicit credentials), and 4776 (The domain controller attempted to validate the credentials for an account).
This rule detects potential ransomware activity by correlating a rapid burst of file creation, modification, or renaming events across multiple directories with prior execution of defense evasion commands, such as deleting volume shadow copies or terminating security-related processes. This sequence is characteristic of ransomware operators attempting to disable recovery options and security protections before commencing mass file encryption.
Detects unauthorized mass clearing of Windows Event Logs using wevtutil or PowerShell cmdlets. This behavior is often observed in ransomware campaigns (e.g., Nova, Gentlemen) as an anti-forensic measure to hinder incident response and investigation by removing audit trails across significant log channels like Security, System, and PowerShell.
Detects instances where a user account experiences a high volume of failed MFA attempts (MFA push fatigue) within a short window, which is subsequently followed by a successful authentication. This behavior is indicative of an attacker attempting to wear down a user into approving an MFA request for an unauthorized access attempt.
Detects anomalous outbound network connections initiated by security and developer tooling (Trivy, Checkmarx, LiteLLM, Telnyx). This behavior is consistent with supply-chain attacks, such as those attributed to the UNC6780/TeamPCP threat group, where compromised tooling is leveraged to exfiltrate sensitive cloud credentials or API keys to external, non-vendor infrastructure.
Detects the execution of search-ms or search protocol URIs that contain a 'crumb' parameter combined with either a 'displayname' parameter or remote path indicators (such as WebDAV/UNC paths). This technique is commonly used by adversaries to redirect Windows Search to a remote, malicious location while masking the source by spoofing the displayed name or path to trick users.
Detects anomalous SSH login attempts using the username '-2', which exploits a known argument-injection vulnerability (CVE-2026-86060) in MikroTik RouterOS. This vulnerability allows an attacker to bypass authentication and obtain unauthorized administrative privileges by forcing the login process to read privilege levels from the terminal file descriptor.
Detects network activity associated with the Psychedelic Stealer malware, including C2 check-ins, API-based tasking, and communication with known C2 infrastructure using specific URI patterns and headers like 'X-API-Key'.
Detects the 'ClickFix' social engineering pattern where an adversary tricks a user into using the Windows Run dialog (explorer.exe) to execute msiexec.exe, downloading and installing a remote MSI package. This is frequently associated with malware delivery, such as Psychedelic Stealer, where users are prompted to copy and paste malicious commands under the guise of fake error messages or CAPTCHAs.
