Detects the execution of 7-Zip self-extracting archive components (specifically a specific version of 7ZSfxMod) extracted to a temporary directory structure mimicking Google Chrome updates. This pattern is associated with the Pay2Key ransomware infection chain, where setup.cmd and 7za.exe are dropped to facilitate malicious activity.
Detects suspicious activities associated with malicious npm package installations, including Node.js spawning shells during lifecycle hooks (preinstall, postinstall), connections to known command-and-control (C2) domains used in software supply chain campaigns, and the creation of artifacts within the node_modules directory.
This rule detects instances of the 'node.exe' process accessing file system paths associated with common browser-based cryptocurrency wallet extensions (such as MetaMask, Phantom, Coinbase Wallet, etc.). This behavior is highly suspicious as it indicates a potential attempt to steal local wallet data or seed phrases.
Detects malicious node.exe processes engaging in system, user, process, or network discovery behaviors. This behavior is indicative of malicious npm packages, such as those seen in the Polymarket Trap, Miasma, or MYRA campaigns, which perform reconnaissance before attempting credential exfiltration.
Detects modifications to Windows Registry Run keys that are indicative of Remcos RAT establishing persistence. The rule monitors for registry values being set or keys created in standard Run and Policy-based startup locations, specifically flagging entries that reference suspicious file paths (such as AppData or Temp) or contain known Remcos-related strings.
Detects behavior patterns consistent with Remcos RAT, specifically: 1) unauthorized process injection (CreateRemoteThread/ProcessInjection) into common host processes, 2) spawning of browser-related processes (iexplore.exe, ieinstal.exe, ielowutil.exe) from non-standard parent processes, and 3) anomalous outbound network connections from these injected processes over non-standard ports.
Detects indicators of the MYRA rootkit, specifically the creation of a hidden shared library in /usr/local/lib/, persistence via a shell script in /etc/profile.d/, and the execution of processes utilizing the LD_PRELOAD environment variable to load the malicious library.
SearchProtocolExecution
YARA-L
Detects execution of processes containing 'search' or 'search-ms' in command line with 'crumb=location' parameter.
Detects potential process impersonation by monitoring for suspicious named pipe creation followed by system-level process spawning.
Detects Node.js processes engaging in suspicious behaviors related to supply chain or second-stage attacks. This includes executing scripts from hidden .peer/ directories, accessing specific staging script filenames, and performing DNS requests or network connections to the known malicious domain data-stream.space.
