Detects one web session posting username, password, and MFA or one-time-code form fields through the same intermediary host. This behavior is indicative of an Adversary-in-the-Middle (AiTM) attack, where an attacker intercepts and relays authentication requests, including multi-factor authentication (MFA) codes, to gain unauthorized access.
Detects a non-interactive sign-in using an existing session shortly after the user completes interactive MFA, which can indicate stolen token replay. This rule identifies scenarios where a user successfully completes an interactive multi-factor authentication (MFA) sign-in, and then, within a short time frame (1800 seconds or 30 minutes), a non-interactive sign-in occurs for the same user and session ID. This pattern is indicative of a stolen session token being replayed by an attacker, bypassing subsequent MFA prompts.
Detects instances where PowerShell is invoked with an execution policy bypass flag to copy the 'curl.exe' binary from its legitimate System32 location to user-writable directories (such as AppData, Temp, or Public folders) and renaming it. This activity is often associated with adversaries attempting to evade security controls by masquerading legitimate system utilities.
Detects execution of a renamed pythonw.exe (userscreen.exe) from a suspicious location (Public\AccountPictures) that demonstrates short-lived execution characteristics indicative of a sandbox/VM evasion check, immediately followed by network connectivity to known NarwhalRAT C2 domains or pcloud infrastructure.
Detects inbound emails from 'gmail.com' where the sender's display name closely matches the recipient's local username part. This pattern is commonly used in business email compromise (BEC) and phishing attacks to impersonate colleagues or known contacts.
Detects the modification or creation of registry keys related to COM InprocServer32 within the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive, specifically pointing to executable or library files residing within the user's AppData/Local directory. This technique is commonly used by adversaries for persistence by hijacking COM objects to execute malicious code when legitimate software invokes the hijacked component.
Detects unauthorized processes attempting to access Outlook or Windows Messaging Subsystem profile registry keys. This behavior is indicative of infostealer malware, such as StealC, attempting to harvest stored email client credentials.
Detects signs of post-infection activity from the Amadey malware, specifically the unauthorized enabling of Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) via registry modifications, the use of tscon.exe for session hijacking, unusual execution of RDP-related binaries (mstsc.exe, rdpclip.exe), and the deployment of legitimate remote access tools like AnyDesk or TeamViewer for lateral movement.
This rule detects network activity associated with the StealC information stealer, specifically focusing on HTTP POST requests made to known command-and-control (C2) domains. It identifies characteristic URL patterns, such as randomly generated 16-character PHP files or specific index.php structures, which are used for bot registration and communication. The detection includes patterns indicative of RC4-encrypted payloads and behavior mimicking Amadey bot status checks.
Detects potential exploitation of CVE-2026-8461 (PixelSmash) where an attacker hijacks the AVBuffer.free function pointer in media processing software (ffmpeg, ffprobe, etc.) to trigger arbitrary code execution via a spawned shell process.
