This rule detects the presence of environment variables used to control the malicious SANDWORM_MODE payload in CI environments or on local systems. The presence of these variables in a process command line is a strong indicator of an active infection or a workflow being manipulated by the malware's control logic.
Detects the creation of the '___unique_id___' file in a temporary directory. This file is a specific artifact used by the PeckBirdy JScript framework to store a persistent victim identifier.
Identifies successful Entra ID sign-ins using the Device Code Flow from a geographic location not seen for that user in the last 30 days. The device code flow involves two separate interactions (the attacker's device and the victim's browser), so a mismatch between the sign-in location and the user's established locations is a strong indicator of a session hijacking attempt.
Detects the execution of a PowerShell one-liner with obfuscation techniques characteristic of the MIMICRAT ClickFix campaign. This campaign tricks users into pasting a command that uses string manipulation and arithmetic to reconstruct and execute a malicious payload.
Detects network connections to identified command and control (C2) infrastructure for both the original TrustConnect malware and its successor, DocConnect. This rule specifically looks for connections to known suspicious domains and IP addresses associated with these malware families.
Detects file creation or process execution events involving the SHA256 hashes of malicious DLLs from the NCryptYo, DOMOAuth2_, IRAOAuth2.0, and SimpleWriter_ NuGet packages. This rule identifies the presence or execution of known malicious components associated with a supply chain compromise targeting ASP.NET developers.
Detects when explorer.exe modifies a .lnk file immediately after a suspicious process (e.g., LOLBAS) is launched by explorer.exe on the same host. This behavior is a forensic artifact of advanced LNK spoofing techniques (Variants 3 and 4 from the referenced research) where Windows "self-repairs" an internally inconsistent shortcut file after its first execution.
This rule detects Python processes that are executed with command-line arguments indicative of silent execution or output redirection to null devices, combined with execution from a temporary directory. This pattern was observed in the dYdX PyPI package compromise, where a RAT ran undetected using these techniques.
This rule detects network connections to malicious infrastructure associated with a supply chain attack targeting dYdX npm and PyPI packages. The infrastructure is used for credential exfiltration and as a C2 for a RAT.
Detects when the BeyondTrust remote support client process ('bomgar-scc.exe' or 'bomgar-scc') spawns a shell or a common reconnaissance/downloader tool. This behavior is a strong indicator of post-exploitation activity related to vulnerabilities like CVE-2026-1731, where an attacker gains code execution and begins to explore the compromised system.
