This rule detects a multi-stage attack pattern involving the execution of PowerShell via explorer.exe, followed by subsequent sub-process activity that attempts to access sensitive browser-stored credentials (Login Data or Cookies) or specific cryptocurrency wallet data, combined with a concurrent network connection attempt, indicative of credential exfiltration via a command-and-control (C2) beacon.
Detects the execution of PowerShell with a hidden window (-w 1) and base64 encoded arguments containing a specific string (JABVAHIAbAA). This combination is commonly used by malicious scripts or fileless malware loaders to execute obfuscated code silently.
This rule detects potential User Account Control (UAC) bypass attempts by monitoring for suspicious registry modifications in HKCU\Software\Classes associated with auto-elevating binaries (such as fodhelper.exe, computerdefaults.exe, or eventvwr.exe), followed shortly by the execution of these binaries or their child processes. This pattern is indicative of an adversary attempting to elevate privileges by hijacking the command registry keys used by these trusted Windows binaries.
Detects the execution of PowerShell with the encoded command parameter (-encodedcommand or -enc), followed by a substantial base64-encoded string. This is a common technique used by attackers to obfuscate malicious PowerShell scripts, bypass signature-based detection, and execute payloads in memory.
Detects instances where common productivity (e.g., Office) or web browser applications spawn PowerShell.exe with suspicious command-line arguments often associated with malicious script execution or obfuscated code downloaders, such as '-w hidden', '-nop', or '-enc'.
Detects the creation of scheduled tasks using the Windows schtasks utility, specifically looking for common adversarial naming conventions or patterns such as 'MiniJunk' or recursive task names, often used to establish persistence.
Detects the creation of or connection to the specific named pipe '\\pipe\\RoguePlanet', which is used as a synchronization and callback channel by the Nightmare Eclipse RoguePlanet exploit (CVE-2026-50656). This exploit leverages the named pipe to facilitate communication between a low-privileged exploit process and a SYSTEM-level Windows Error Reporting (WER) task payload during a local privilege escalation attempt.
Detects potential OAuth device code phishing attacks by identifying HTTP requests to the legitimate microsoft.com/devicelogin URL containing suspicious user_code or device_code parameters. This pattern indicates an adversary is using an OAuth device authorization grant flow to steal tokens or gain unauthorized access without the victim needing to provide credentials directly to the attacker.
Detects the creation of the named pipe '\pipe\RoguePlanet', which is specifically utilized by the RoguePlanet CVE-2026-50656 exploit. The exploit uses this pipe for synchronization during a TOCTOU race condition against MsMpEng.exe. Once the race is won, a SYSTEM-level payload (typically masquerading as a child process of wermgr.exe) uses this pipe to verify the originating session and subsequently spawn an interactive shell as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. This pipe name is unique to this exploit and not used by legitimate software.
Detects attempts to exploit an authorization bypass vulnerability in MyBB (specifically observed in version 1.8.40) where a non-administrative ACP account can assign users to the administrator group (gid=4) by manipulating POST requests to the user-add or user-edit endpoints.
