Detects APT29's WINELOADER backdoor variant used in phishing campaigns, this rule also detect bad pdf, shtml, htm and vbs or maybe more depends
This rule detects suspicious execution of VBScript or VBE files via wscript.exe or cscript.exe where the command line contains keywords commonly associated with financial documents or urgent requests. A high count (3 or more) of such events from a single device within an hour is considered anomalous, potentially indicating a phishing attempt or malware execution.
Detects internal phishing emails with subject lines mimicking IT service notifications, such as from ServiceNow. This is a tactic used by the Jingle Thief group (also tracked as Atlas Lion and STORM-0539) for lateral movement within a compromised organization.
Detects suspicious process executions where 'ctfmon.exe' or 'cloudfiles.exe' are initiated by a non-SYSTEM user but contain 'SYSTEM' in their command line. This could indicate an attempt to impersonate or escalate privileges, especially when combined with a successful logon event for the same user.
Detects the modification or termination of critical Windows security services using the Service Control utility (sc.exe). Attackers frequently disable Defender and associated security center services to allow undetected payload execution.
Detects the installation of browser extensions, primarily cryptocurrency wallets, that are known targets for the Stealit information stealer.
This rule detects the execution of specific Python scripts associated with the 'FortiBleed' campaign. These scripts include 'spray_da.py' (domain admin password spray), 'smb_test.py' (SMB validation/lateral movement), 'spider.py' (Active Directory crawler), and 'ad_full_audit.py' (Active Directory full audit). Detection is based on the Python executable (python.exe, python3, etc.) running with these script names in the command line or as the executed file.
Detects modifications to common Windows Registry Run keys (Run, RunOnce, RunServices, RunServicesOnce) that include specific keywords ('ManageEngine', 'SystemOptimizer') and attempt to execute scripting tools (wscript, cscript, powershell, cmd). This pattern is often used by adversaries to establish persistence on a system.
This rule detects successful OAuth logins originating from IP addresses identified as residential proxies. This behavior can indicate an adversary attempting to bypass geo-blocking or other IP-based restrictions, potentially using stolen credentials (Valid Accounts) or after a successful phishing campaign (Spearphishing Link) to gain initial access or maintain persistence.
This rule detects the use of JSON-RPC 'eth_call' by a non-browser process during network connection events. It specifically looks for network activity where the process is not a known web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) and the network traffic or command line contains the string '"method":"eth_call"'. This behavior is often associated with malware or cryptocurrency-related threats attempting to resolve dynamic commands or addresses.
