Detects anomalous network scanning behavior originating from internal hosts. The rule triggers when a host contacts a high number of distinct ports (greater than 50) or establishes a large number of connections (greater than 100) to a high number of distinct IP addresses (greater than 20), excluding common internal network segments. This behavior is indicative of network reconnaissance or service discovery activities typical of an adversary mapping the network.
This rule detects internal hosts initiating connections to known Tor ORPort or DirPort services, indicating potential C2 check-in, correlated with high-rate scanning behavior from the same source IP. This combination suggests a compromised host using an anonymity network for C2 communication while simultaneously performing internal reconnaissance.
This rule detects potentially malicious reconnaissance and execution activity. On Linux, it monitors for network and system information discovery utilities (e.g., ifconfig, netstat, ip) executed by shells or remote access daemons. On Windows, it monitors for the use of WScript, CScript, WMIC, and WBEMTest in potentially suspicious ways, including the use of WMI for command execution.
Detects execution of fltMC.exe from a location other than the standard Windows System32 directory, correlated with recent file creation or modification events in sensitive directories like ProgramData or User Public folders. This behavior is indicative of an attacker attempting to load malicious kernel-mode drivers or perform system-level operations using a renamed or moved system utility.
Detects inbound email patterns characteristic of the Kali365 campaigns, containing instructions and formatting that prompt users to enter a specific device code. The rule identifies emails with specific subject line keywords and URLs pointing to microsoft.com/devicelogin.
Detects outbound network traffic from browser processes to known BadBlocker extension command-and-control infrastructure (api.adblock-for-youtube.com or get.adblock-for-youtube.com), followed by subsequent outbound HTTPS connections to arbitrary external domains. This sequence is indicative of malicious browser extension activity involving the exfiltration of session cookies or authentication tokens from the victim's browser.
Detects post-exploitation activities on SD-WAN appliances, including unauthorized tenant list uploads related to CVE-2026-20245, creation of unauthorized 'troot' accounts in sensitive system files, staging of system files, unauthorized permission modifications via chmod/chown, and privilege escalation attempts using su.
Detects command-line execution of 'rm' or 'cp -a' targeting specific sensitive system, credential, or configuration files on Linux systems. This behavior often indicates an attempt to remove evidence, destroy logs, or stage sensitive data for exfiltration.
Detects outbound network connections from endpoint processes to domains associated with a malicious browser extension. The extension is known to fetch scriptlets that enable main-world JavaScript injection and potential credential theft (e.g., document.cookie).
Detects indicators of exploitation related to CVE-2026-20245 on Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN controllers, including malicious tenant CSV uploads, unauthorized account creation (troot), privilege escalation via su, anti-forensic backup of system configuration files, and configuration changes such as PermitRootLogin enabled.
